Reportage Illustration 2019-03-25T12:30:41+00:00

Reportage drawing is the practice of drawing on location or in situ with the intention of capturing some observed subject. This practice is rooted in the desire for information and has historically provided an important function in documenting ritual, places and, most notably, the important events of the time. Arguably one of the most demanding of illustration forms – often requiring the capturing of a live event, insightful drawing, and accurate visual communication – reportage and documentary illustration has a long history of helping break barriers of engagement with a variety of subject matter and people groups.(1) Reportage and documentary illustration provides a direct connection to the world we live in and its illustrators are often noted for their personal visual style and for their in-depth knowledge and cultural understanding of their chosen subject matter.
